These clocks come with electric movements with a mechanical 8-day backup. Your clock will constantly be powered by electricity to keep accurate time. You don't have to worry about a power failure, however. When the power is out, the mechanical movement will keep your grandfather clock going for up to 8 days without winding. When the power comes back on, the clock will go back to running without winding. You should never have to worry about resetting your moon phase dial again.
